Frequently Asked Questions about contracts

Contracts, agreements and legal documents review

What does a contract or legal document review entail?

Reviewing your contract, agreement, or legal document involves reading and analyzing it in light of your specific circumstances (such as your role in the document — for example, whether you are the seller, buyer, lessee, or lessor — and the goal you have indicated you wish to achieve, etc.). We will note any risks, inaccuracies, and potential legal inconsistencies, as well as provide recommendations for you to consider before entering into the proposed agreement.
Our review service is designed to protect your position and interests, and our feedback will give you a clear understanding of what you may need to proceed with your transaction.

An AI resource will review any kind of contract for free. What is the advantage of having you do it?

You are absolutely right. Without a doubt, Artificial Intelligence is a great tool and we are sure it will give you very good results. However keep in mind that AI can only give you what you ask for. It lacks the experience and sensibility to perceive and suggest small changes to a contract that could make a great difference.

In Galvan Law we'll make sure to give you what you need and to watch over your interests applying all our experience and sensibility.

What follows if resulting from the review my contract or legal documents requires amendments?

If we find that amendments are needed, we will let you know and provide you with a quote for carrying them out. In other words, amendments are not included in the review estimate.

Will you keep the information I provide confidential?

Absolutely. For more information on this subject please read clause TENTH of our services agreement.

What kind of contracts and legal documents can you review?

We cover a wide range of matters in which we can intervene, mostly contracts, agreements and commercial and corporate documents, among others:

  • Lease (home and commercial);
  • Partner agreements;
  • Shareholders meetings;
  • Joint ventures;
  • Privacy statements;
  • Collaboration;
  • Marketing;
  • Sales;
  • NDA;
  • Consignment;
  • Credit;
  • Guarantees;
  • Loan;
  • Construction;
  • Operative;
  • Services;
  • Supply;
  • Supervision.

And many more.

How long does the review of a contract or legal document take?

Usually two business days. However, if the document is long (because of its contents or its annexes), it could take more.
You'll get an estimate of the time it will take with your quote.

If I already signed the document, is it still worth reviewing it?

If you've already signed the document, our review service can help you better understand your position, the obligations you assumed, or resolve any conflicts that may have arisen from its interpretation or execution.
If this is the case, in addition to sending us the relevant documentation, download our service request so you can explain your concerns in more detail.

May I ask for further clarifications after the review is delivered?

Of course. After receiving your contract review, you can email us with any questions you may have. This interaction (receiving and answering your email) is included in the review price. In other words, there is no additional cost.
If you would like to schedule a meeting with the lawyer who reviewed your contract to discuss any issues, we will offer you a discount on a 20 minute phone call or video conference.

How do you estimate the cost of the review?

Our main criteria is the length of the contract. We developed a formula that involves the font size (Arial 11pt.), the line spacing (1.5), and the resulting number of pages.

How much will my review cost?

Send us your documents and we will let you know. Asking for a quote has no cost.

Contracts (drafting)

What does drafting a contract or legal document entail?

Transactions between persons are based on agreements expressed in contracts or agreements. The written manifestation of a promise and the guarantee of compliance by the parties involved. This is what allows us to go before judicial and administrative authorities to seek justice. The variety of agreements we make to regulate our daily activities is practically endless.

Galvan Law specializes on agreements and contracts between private parties (non-governmental entities), mainly aimed at two objectives:

  1. The development of commercial business models and transactions; and
  2. Individuals, persons, in need to guarantee different kind of promises, transactions and obligations.

The purpose of drafting your contract is to protect you and ensure that your transaction is documented so that, as far as possible, in case of breach, you have means of defense.

Legal advisory

What do I get with a subscription to the Galvan Law site?

Subscription to our site features:

  • Three 25 minute calls or videoconferences, each, per month. If not used during the time period, the benefit will be lost. It is not cumulative to the following month. If a phone consultation under this model somehow implies the rendering of any other service offered in the site, it will be deemed as rendering that service and the price corresponding to that service will be applicable.
  • Access to our providers and specialists in other matters (risk prevention; fiscal and labor law; laboratories; and more).
  • Two downloads of our contracts and agreements examples catalog, per month.
What does a monthly limited retainer entail?

If you have a clear idea of the services you require and how often you'll use them, we can design a package tailored to those needs and offer you a more attractive price.

For example, your package could include the following:

  • Two contract or legal document reviews per month;
  • Drafting of one contract per month;
  • A quarterly compliance visit to your business establishment; and
  • Four 25 phone or videoconference consultations per month.

Taking those requirements into consideration, we'd give you a quote to cover them at a more accessible price than if hired individually.

What does a monthly unlimited retainer entail?

Although more expensive, this model offers general legal advice to entrepreneurs and small businesses. It's a kind of in-house counsel, albeit subcontracted, with one fundamental characteristic: responsibility.

We offer guidance and support in decision-making regarding legal advice needs and determining the best provider for each case. We also make our associates available in various areas of law (Civil, Labor, Criminal, Tax, etc.)
We follow up on each case. If we recommend a specialist, we address any complaints about the services provided and, if necessary, intervene to resolve conflicts with the provider. Of course, we adapt to the existing legal structure your business has with other service providers.
This includes the services we provide directly, among others:

  • Review and drafting of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents;
  • Addressing inquiries regarding business establishments, commercial and corporate law;
  • Advice on corporate matters;
  • Advice and follow-up on restructurings and other corporate transactions;
  • Compliance on business establishments operation assessments;
  • Health and safety compliance assessments;
  • Advice and follow-up on the opening and transfer of business establishments;
  • Advice and follow-up on SIAPEM notices;
  • Advice and follow-up on the day-to-day business;.
Do you have other service options?

Our goal is to offer you options so you can hire our services at an affordable price; whether through ongoing consultation, case-by-case advice, a combination of both, or any number of options that allow you to obtain quality legal counsel.

If we don't have the right model, we'll find one and make sure it's tailored to your business.
